What should I do before handing over my bridal accessories?

First, the bridal wear and accessories must be clean. Soil and impurities left on fabric will accelerate the aging process causing the items to become weakened and yellow.

Locate a stain or dry cleaning professional. If your items have yellowed, grayed, or is stained, you will need to select a trained professional who can restore the items to their best state for us to display. Having your bridal wear and accessories professional cleaned before encasing will prolong the displaying process.

Where should I display my bridal case?

The bridal case needs to be in a cool dry place, preferably on an inside wall. You will need to protect your case from humidity and extreme temperature changes.

All fibers degrade under high temperatures, and many may discolor permanently. High humidity encourages mold and mildew, even on clean fabrics. Therefore, it is not wise to store your items in an attic or a cellar. Choose a place within your living quarters, but choose a place without much traffic.
Remember: NEVER store your items in an attic or basement.

Does your Bridal Case keep the bodice from yellowing?

No, our business does not keep your bodice from yellowing. Some fabrics do yellow a little as they get older. Silk and nylon, in particular, have a tendency to do so. However, the greatest cause of yellowing bodices is leaving them in plastic bags that the bodice came with or a drycleaner's bag. Plastic gives off fumes that actually cause yellowing. Your Bridal Case uses Acid free backing and tissue paper to prolong the life of your items.

Is the Bridal Case sealed?

We do not air tightly seal bridal wear and accessories in our case. Sealing traps moisture in the case, promoting mold and mildew growth, which will stain and weaken the fibers of your items. Also, if you open a sealed box, the rush of air into the box will rapidly reoxygenate the box, causing fiber deterioration.
